Marlen J. Trujillo, PhD, MBA Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Trujillo was one of the Spring Branch community leaders on the founding Board of the community based health center in 2003. She and other community leaders spent many hours planning and fundraising to reach their objective of opening up a charity clinic to meet the needs of the community. Dr. Trujillo later joined the health center as an employee in March 2006. She received her BBA from the University of Houston in Finance and Marketing and her MBA in International Business from Our Lady of the Lake University. She graduated with her Doctor of Philosophy in Healthcare Administration from The University of Texas Health Science Center-School of Public Health in Houston. Most recently she earned her certification as a Community Health Worker. She is passionate about healthcare and education. She truly understands the healthcare needs of the community and is an advocate for reducing health disparities across all populations. She enjoys mentoring first generation students interested in obtaining a higher education. Dr. Trujillo is fluent in English and Spanish. 

Michael G. Bsaibes, MBA Chief Operations Officer

Michael Bsaibes joined SBCHC in 2007 after receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Management from Texas State University. He graduated from the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston with his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2012 with a focus on leadership development. He received his Lean Six Sigma certification to help improve performance and efficiency. As the Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Bsaibes is responsible for the clinical and administrative operations of the organization including all activities related to the delivery of medical services. This includes monitoring the adequacy of health delivery systems, monitoring provider productivity, and patient flow. Mr. Bsaibes is also responsible for the organization’s general operations. As COO, he has overseen large construction projects, has an essential role in hiring and retaining medical staff, coordinates all supply needs for the clinics, and ensures that there are appropriate internal controls for the organization’s necessary reporting and compliance activities.

David Krusleski, MD Chief Medical Officer

Dr. David W. Krusleski, a 1986 Rice University graduate with a double major in Biology and Spanish, obtained his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1990. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Southwest Memorial Hospital in 1993, and a Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School in 1994. He has been in practice since 1994, and is board certified in Family Medicine. He became the Chief Medical Officer for Spring Branch Community Health Center in 2018. He has worked in Community Health Centers for over 26 years.

Lori McCain, CPA, CGMA Chief Financial Officer

Lori McCain joined SBCHC in 2016, has over 22 years of experience as a health center chief financial officer, and several years of experience in public accounting. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Houston-Victoria, is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas CPA Society, the Houston CPA Society, and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant. In her role as CFO, Ms. McCain serves as the focal point for all financial operations of the health center, develops and executes financial policies and procedures, and is responsible for all functions of the accounting and patient billing departments.

Gerard Peperone, MM Chief Development Officer

Gerard Peperone joined SBCHC in 2017 with over 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector, working for organizations in the arts like Texas Institute for Arts in Education and Da Camera of Houston, social services and community health centers. He received his Bachelor of Music in Music Composition from the University of Denver, his Master's in Music from The University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Mr. Peperone is responsible for all development and fundraising projects for SBCHC. He also ensures our 330 Health Center meets all program requirements per HRSA.

Michael E. Smith, M.Ed. Chief Program Officer

Michael Smith joined SBCHC in 2019. Mr. Smith received his BA in Education from Texas A&M University in 1994 and his M.Ed. in Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2000. As the Chief Programs Officer, Mr. Smith brings over 10 years of experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers in multiple capacities. Mr. Smith is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the Community Health Department including leading all community partnerships, patient health programs, community engagement activities, and social marketing initiatives.
