Another Successful Walk For Wellness

SBCHC Walk for Wellness 2023 Brings Together Neighbors and Community Partners

Spring Branch Community Health Center enjoyed great success with their latest Walk for Wellness fitness and health fair held Saturday, May 20th at Hollibrook Elementary School. This recurring neighborhood event was another opportunity to engage and educate families in the community about the importance of healthy lifestyles and physical activity and to encourage all the residents of the Spring Branch community – families, individuals, young and old – to come together for a morning focused on improving their health and wellness. The 2023 Walk was bigger than ever with over 200 community members, partners, volunteers, and staff coming out to exercise and raise awareness about ways to promote healthy lifestyles.

In partnership with Spring Spirit Youth Sports, Corporate Sponsors, community organizations, and local healthcare providers, this fun, family-friendly event offered the neighborhood a day of activities and education to highlight the importance of regular exercise and good eating habits for overall fitness and physical wellbeing in order to prevent or improve chronic health issues.

Many business partners and community organizations were on hand to offer free samples and useful information to encourage participants to live a healthier life. The day include games and contests with prizes for winning participants, free giveaways, the Houston Dynamo Street Team, Rope Warriors Jump Rope Team, and fitness advice from Blink Fitness.

For bringing the most children from their class to the Walk, two Hollibrook Elementary first grade teachers, Ms. Ana Mercado and Ms. Leticia Cabrera (pictured left and right respectively), were awarded a gift card from an anonymous donor to purchase supplies and goodies for their classroom next year.

Continuing SBCHC’s long history of involvement in and commitment to the community of Spring Branch and West and Northwest Houston, this year’s Walk was another example of the agency’s service to the neighborhoods around their clinic locations.

Thank You to Our Partners, Sponsors, Volunteers, and Participants

The day would not have been the success it was without the involvement and support of all of our partnering organizations, sponsoring businesses, and the enthusiastic participation of generous volunteers and community members. We are grateful for all you contributed to make this year’s Walk so fun and impactful!
