June Is Men’s Health Awareness Month

Men’s Health Awareness month is a national observance used to raise awareness about the health and well being of men and boys. During this month of awareness, we encourage men to take control of their health and for families to teach healthy habits throughout childhood to their young boys.

Did you know?

  • Men are at higher risk for many serious diseases, including heart disease, colon, lung and prostate cancer, diabetes, and HIV.

  • Men do not see doctors for a physical exam nearly as often as women and men are more likely to be uninsured.

  • Preventative care – Get frequent check ups and health screenings with your doctor!
  • Quit smoking & lessen alcohol intake – Smoking can lead to cancer, heart disease, & risk for erectile dysfunction!
  • Eat a healthy diet – Choose more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and drink more water!
  • Exercise – Physical activity helps you to manage your weight and lower your risk for heart disease!
  • Manage stress – Rest and take care of your mental health!
